Ensuring private sector engagement opportunities in the implementation of the New Climate Policy


During the workshop, the parties discussed the involvement of the private sector in the implementation of the political documents regarding climate change in Georgia, specifically, Georgia’s Nationally Determined Contribution, Climate Change Strategy 2021-2030 and Action Plan, and the Long-Term Low-Emission Development Strategy.

It was mentioned, that the involvement of the private sector plays an important role in the fulfilment of international obligations.

Mrs.  Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Alexandre Daras, EU Representation, Energy, Environment Protection and Climate Change Sector, and Nick Beresford, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Georgia attended the meeting.

"Climate change is a global problem; therefore, the engagement of all sectors is crucial to deal with the respective issue. Accordingly, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is working to maximize the role of the private sector in the planning and implementation of the Climate Change Policy", said Mrs, Nino Tandilashvili.


The meeting was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), within the framework of the EU4Climate project.
