George Khanishvili delivers opening remarks at the "Regional Conference - Cold Chain Management"

Mr. George Khanishvili showed appreciation to the American Government and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for organizing the event and emphasized the importance of the conference.

"We, together with Georgian entrepreneurs are delighted to welcome farmers from our neighboring country- Azerbaijan at the regional conference. This conference is special in terms of its scope and goals.

As we are well aware, the state is implementing several agricultural development projects. I believe, that the respective conference will contribute to the strengthening of regional cooperation and improving trade ties" said Mr. George Khanishvili.

"As we are all aware, the Conference on Cold Chain Management is being held for the first time in the Caucasus region. Our goal is to increase the cross-border trade and cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Against the backdrop of global challenges - the Covid pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, it is important to support countries in selling their agricultural products. I believe, that the development of cold storage warehouses and the introduction of international standards in the production of agri-food products will support Georgia in the integration process into the European Union," said Mrs. Marika Olson, Economic Growth Office Director, USAID/Georgia.

The First Regional Conference organized by the USAID Agriculture Program, the World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO) and the Georgia Cold Storage and Logistics Association (GCSLA) aimed to promote trade ties and increase the export potential of the region.

The Heads of relevant Departments of the Ministry, representatives of retail companies, cold storage warehouses, companies providing cold chain equipment, transportation, and other services, and import-export brokers from Georgia and Azerbaijan attended the conference.
