Otar Shamugia gets familiar with the citrus processing and production process


The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia accompanied by the Head of Adjara Government Mr. Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Agrarian Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Mrs. Nino Tsilosani and Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Mr. Zaza Shavadze visited the citrus processing enterprise "Georgian Tangerine" in Kobuleti Municipality, where Government officials got acquainted with the production process.

 

It was mentioned, that the citrus processing enterprise "Georgian Tangerine" has the capacity for delivering 250 tonnes of citrus within 24 hours, also sorting, waxing, and packing the citrus in compliance with European standards. 50 local people are employed at the enterprise, which plans to receive 3000 tonnes of citrus fruits this season.

 

In accordance with the decision of the government of Adjara, a subsidy will be issued for industrial processing (non-standard) tangerines in 2022. The state provides the co-financing of 15 tetri per 1 kg of industrial tangerine. 5 tetri will be paid by the enterprise; Accordingly, the price of tangerines intended for processing will be 20 tetri. Enterprises will start receiving non-standard tangerines in the coming days.
