The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture George Khanishvili attends the public discussion of the local support program based on the LEADER/CLLD approach

During the meeting, Mr. George Khanishvili expressed his gratitude to the European Union and the United Nations Development Program for their support and emphasized the importance of the program.

"The state, jointly with donor organizations, is implementing several projects to strengthen the rural areas, although challenges remain. I am delighted that the Rural Development Agency will implement a new project, which provides an opportunity to address the needs of rural communities by initiating new projects, ‘’ said Mr. George Khanishvili.

" We are all aware, that, with the help of the United Nations Development Program, the European Union supported the Rural Development Agency in implementing grant programs. It is important to note, that the state will launch the rural development program next year, which will significantly contribute to solving the needs of a specific village with the involvement of the Local Action Groups (LAGs). All the previously mentioned will subsequently improve the socio-economic condition in the rural area", stated Mrs. Ketevan Khutsishvili, Programme Manager for Rural Development, Civil Protection, and Crisis Management of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.

The Heads of relevant Departments of the Ministry, the National Manager of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Mr. Nodar Kereselidze, representatives of the civil sector, stakeholders, and members of the local action groups attended the meeting.
