Solomon Pavliashvili meets the Head of Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of Mission of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Mr. Erik Illes.

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili held a meeting with the Head of Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of Mission of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Mr. Erik Illes, Thematic Sector Coordinator, Connectivity, Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Mr. Alexander Daras,  and the Head of the Environmental Program of the Swedish Embassy in Georgia, Mrs. Khatuna Zaldastanishvili.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to build collaboration to facilitate the development of a circular economy system in the country.

 

Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili expressed gratitude to the Swedish government for its cooperation and financial support, he also emphasized the importance of creating a document assessing the circularity level of Georgia and noted that the so-called ''mapping'' of the circularity level was studied at the macroeconomic and sectoral levels in collaboration with the Swedish side, adding, that the strategy will be developed in the following stage.
According to the Deputy Minister, it is critical to develop a circular economy strategy and strengthen the private sector to promote the development of the green economy in the country.

 

The conversation touched upon the importance of creating and developing waste-processing enterprises in the country.

 

"We discussed the possibilities of circular economy development in Georgia and highlighted how we could show our support to the government, private sector, and civil society. Definitely, we have our visions and opinions, and ultimately, we will reach an agreement to choose the best version from many options " -said Mr. Erik Iles, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia

Mr. Alexander Daras spoke about the current situation in the country in terms of waste management and confirmed his readiness to cooperate in the mentioned direction.
