The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia meets his Excellency Mr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality of Qatar in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.

During the meeting in Doha, the parties discussed the investment potential and issues of deepening trade and economic relations between the two countries.  As mentioned, the Gulf countries, including the state of Qatar, are important trade partners for Georgia, and the expansion of trade and economic relations has huge potential.

 

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Otar Shamugia, spoke at length about the state support programs for farmers, emphasizing the important steps taken to promote the production of quality agro-food products in Georgia, which leads to increasing the scale of production and raising interest in Georgian products in international markets.

 

Mr. Shamugia briefed the Minister of Municipalities of Qatar on the investment project "Imereti Agrozone", stating that the positioning of a competitive Georgian agricultural product in the market of the Gulf countries, including  Georgian honey, hazelnuts, dry fruits, blueberries, and lamb, is crucial for Georgia.

 

Mr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Subaie welcomed Mr. Otar Shamugia and thanked him for visiting Qatar.  Mr. Abdullah emphasized the support of the Ministry in presenting the Georgian stand at the international agricultural exhibition, noting that the State of Qatar is interested in deepening trade relations with Georgia. 
The Minister of Municipality of Qatar also mentioned that the awareness of quality Georgian agro-food products has increased significantly in recent years, and the two countries have the potential to deepen trade relations.

 

Mr. Nikoloz Revazishvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Qatar, and Mr. Davit Tsitlidze, Director of the Rural Development Agency, together with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, attended the meeting with the Minister of Municipalities of the State of Qatar.
