Otar Shamugia and the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the State of Qatar signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Doha.

During his visit to the State of Qatar, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Otar Shamugia held a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the State of Qatar, Sheikh, Mr.  Faleh Bin Ahmed Bin Ali Al Thani. 


 

At the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of taking environmental measures to prevent the hazards posed by climate change.

 

Mr. Shamugia spoke extensively about the strategic vision of the Government of Georgia in the mentioned direction and emphasized the measures undertaken in the environmental area. According to the Minister, the Government of Georgia has taken crucial steps to improve air quality, preserve biodiversity, manage water resources, expand protected areas, manage waste, etc.

 

 

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that calls for increased collaboration in improving water resources management, air quality monitoring and control, biodiversity protection, and implementation of joint environmental projects and programs aiming at mitigating the effects of climate change.

 

 The Minister of Environmental Protection of Qatar expressed gratitude to Mr. Shamugia for his visit to the State of Qatar and stated that the Memorandum signed between the Agencies in the field of environmental protection moves the existing collaboration to a new level. The Minister expressed his hope that the mentioned Agreement will support the implementation of joint projects.

 

"Sharing experience and conducting joint research will contribute to the development of relations not only in the field of environmental protection but will also make a significant contribution to the deepening of close cooperation between the two countries," Minister Shamugia stated at the meeting.
 

 

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia was accompanied by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the State of Qatar, Mr. Nikoloz Revazishvili.
