Nino Tandilashvili was elected as the Chair of the Accreditation Committee of the Green Climate Fund and a member of the Ethics and Audit Committee.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili participated in the meeting of the Governing Board of the Green Climate Fund in the city of Songdo, South Korea.
During the meeting, Mrs. Tandilashvili was elected as the Chair of the Accreditation Committee and a member of the Ethics and Audit Committee. 

 

From 2022, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili represents the Eastern European countries in the Green Climate for two years.

 

At the Governing Board meeting, Mrs. Tandilashvili emphasized the importance of the financial support provided by the Green Climate Fund for the countries of the Eastern European region to ensure the adoption of climate-smart technologies, reduce vulnerability to climate change and also mitigate the emissions emitted by the mentioned countries.

 

 

During the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of issues related to climate change.  The Board decided to fund initiatives for developing countries in energy, agriculture, sustainable forest management, and other areas worth USD 587 million.

 

The Green Climate Fund is the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which finances climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in developing countries.
