Otar Shamugia meets His Excellency, Mr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates.

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia met with His Excellency Mr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates.

 

 

As mentioned,  signing the free trade agreement between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates will be a crucial step forward to increase bilateral trade and economic cooperation. 

 

 

"In recent years, the trade patterns of agricultural commodities have been increasing between our countries, although, there is much more potential. 
The agricultural production and exports increase annually by 15-20%  in Georgia. The free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates will have a positive effect in the mentioned area and will enable us to strengthen cooperation and attract investments toward the production of agricultural products, the development of storage and processing enterprises, also the adoption of modern technologies and the introduction of renewable energy, environmental protection, and many other areas, that will be successful and beneficial for both sides" said Mr. Otar Shamugia. 

 

Mr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi emphasized the importance of the free trade agreement, noting that 85% of agricultural products are imported into the Emirates. 
According to Mr.  Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, similar Agreements play a crucial role in ensuring the food security of the United Arab Emirates, and the UAE is interested in making investments to ensure food security, mitigate the effects of climate change and overcome other challenges in the fields. 

 

The parties agreed, that the representatives of the business sector of the United Arab Emirates will visit Georgia shortly to discuss in detail the investment opportunities in both agrarian and environmental directions. The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture will coordinate the visit of the Arab Delegation.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. George Khanishvili, the Ambassador of Georgia to the United Arab Emirates Mr. Paata Kalandadze, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Georgia Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, representatives of the government delegation of the United Arab Emirates, and business sector attended the meeting.
