Otar Shamugia: "Our task was/is to promote wheat production in the country".
"Our task was and is to promote wheat production in the country. We have made an announcement on this matter and taken specific steps. Under the framework of the Preferential Agricultural credit program, we have funded working capital for around 4,000 farmers and encouraged them to promote the production of grain crops", said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, at the end of the government session.
 According to the Minister, as compared to 2019, according to the preliminary data of the Ministry of 2022, the growth rate is set at around 50%, which means that in 2022, up to 150 thousand tonnes of wheat will be produced in the country.
"American experts have arrived several times; We are expecting specific suggestions and proposals from them. They will study the entire value chain of wheat production and provide recommendations to promote the sector, thereafter, we will take additional measures," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
