With the support of the Rural Development Agency, a new greenhouse was built in Kaspi Municipality.

The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia visited a modern greenhouse in the village of Changila, Kaspi municipality.

GEL 2 million was invested in greenhouse farming, including GEL 850,000 as preferential agro-credit. The Rural Development Agency finances 11% of the loan. The farm can produce up to 300 tonnes of strawberries annually.

"With the state's assistance, another modern greenhouse was built, which produces high-quality products. All our programs are designed to assist farmers in producing high-quality, competitive products.

The state supports farmers with financial resources, increases access to modern technologies, and raises their knowledge and skills, ultimately providing actual outcomes. We believe that more farmers will be engaged in agricultural activities shortly, and with the state programs and assistance, we will be able to produce even more high-quality products in the country," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The agricultural cooperative‘’ Madlieri’’ owns the mentioned greenhouse.
According to the head of the cooperative, Mr. Giorgi Tavadze, setting up a greenhouse would be impossible without access to rural development programs.

"Without financial support from the state, we could not establish a modern greenhouse farm. Harvesting continues for 12 months in the greenhouse, and we can sell strawberries on the local and international markets", said Giorgi Tavadze.

It is worth noting that, within the  "preferential agro credit project," banks provided loans worth more than GEL 143 million for creating and developing modern greenhouses, with the co-financing of the Rural Development Agency over GEL 23.5 million.

As for the Shida Kartli region, 198 loans worth GEL 13.9 million have been issued to 153 beneficiaries to develop greenhouse farms. The co-financing of the Rural Development Agency exceeded GEL 2 million.
