"Promoting cattle breeding and primary milk production is one of the priorities for the state. Thus, we are implementing several agricultural support projects. This year, we are financing the primary production of up to 500 beneficiaries through Preferential Agro-credit project and collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development. We will continue to actively support the mentioned initiative," stated Mr. Otar Shamugia.
According to the Minister, the new plant processes cheese in a traditional manner, which is critical for the rehabilitation/preservation of old Georgian traditions. Furthermore, the increase in production will create jobs and improve socio-economic conditions in the region.
According to Giorgi Jvaridze, ‘’Tenili’’ cheese making is a difficult process; the state’s support enabled the farmer to start and organize a business, which is critical for making the ‘’Tenili’’ cheese traditionally. Currently, the farmer produces 20 kilograms of cheese daily and sells it in the local market.
