Solomon Pavliashvili participates in the Paris International Forum to End Plastic Pollution in Cities.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr.  Solomon Pavliashvili, attended the Paris International Forum to End Plastic Pollution in Cities.

Within the framework of the Forum, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili participated in two thematic discussions: sustainable production/use of plastic and prevention of plastic pollution.

The Deputy Minister discussed in depth the continuous efforts taken by Georgia to minimize and prevent plastic pollution and emphasized the country's willingness to adopt circular management approaches.

" Government of Georgia has taken significant steps to bring Georgia’s legislation closer to the relevant European Union directives on plastic waste prevention. Georgia was one of the first countries in the Caucasus region to prohibit the use of plastic bags. We are working hard to assess plastic flows, identify alternative sources, and ban single-use plastics," said Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

In March 2022, the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) adopted the resolution on "End Plastic Pollution" aiming to develop an international agreement to combat plastic pollution.

The high-ranking officials involved in the environmental protection field and members of the United Nations Environmental Protection Programme attended the forum.
