The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia awarded the winners.

"Education is one of the main ways of dealing with modern challenges. Teachers play a crucial role in this journey, and I want to thank you for that. Today's event was scheduled as part of World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5. Moreover, building community unity is essential for a healthy environment; in this regard, we have interesting initiatives, such as the recently launched "Forest Friend" platform, intending to involve the public to the greatest extent possible in forest restoration, maintenance, and protection activities. The state plays a crucial role in taking care of the environment. In recent years, we have carried out concrete reforms to protect air, water, and soil from pollution. Important events will be implemented in the future as well. All reforms are the result of our joint efforts.

I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Environmental Information and Education Center on its 10th anniversary. The Center provides information to the public regarding environmental and agrarian issues and works to raise awareness. "The "Green Award" competition, which we are attending today, was established by the initiative of the Center," stated Mr.  Otar Shamugia.
Since 2018, the Environmental Information and Education Centre has been organizing/conducting the "Green Award" competition, aiming to identify and encourage teachers and educators who actively use the textbooks "Environmental education before school" and "Environmental and agricultural education in School" in the educational process and promote environmental and agricultural education.

The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mrs. Mzia Giorgobiani,  Director of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, Mr.  Berika Shukakidze, representatives of municipalities, and guests attended the event.
