Otar Shamugia gets familiar with the activities of the working group

Mr. Otar Shamugia got familiar with the activity report of the working group, which was created within the hazelnut production support program.

 

Lasha Shalamberidze, the head of the working group, presented the activity report to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The Minister thanked the employees for carrying out the large-scale work rapidly and professionally.

 

"Everything was done to provide targeted assistance to farmers. We believe, that the program is running smoothly. we have been carrying out stink bug control measures over the years. The National Food Agency works actively to eradicate the pest effectively. We believe our joint efforts will result in a much better harvest this year," stated Mr. Otar Shamugia.

 

During the first stage of the hazelnut production support program, cadastre operators visited about 300 villages to register orchards in the hazelnut cadastre.
 

 

More than 47,000 hectares of hazelnut orchards are registered in the cadastre created within the program, including gardens consisting of 0.2-3 hectares, planted on more than 44,000 hectares, and each garden consisting of  3 hectares planted on 3,000 hectares.

 

The working group includes about 140 cadastre operators selected from the local youth. They went through special training.
The Rural Development Agency and the National Food Agency implement the hazelnut production support program.
Zugdidi Majority MP Mr. Irakli Chikovani and Director of the Rural Development Agency Davit Tsitlidze accompanied the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in the Samegrelo region.
