Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili made opening remarks at the international conference "Organic Agriculture and Agroecology".

"The conference theme, specifically, organic agriculture and agroecology, corresponds with the current rural and agricultural development strategy of Georgia, implying sustainable use of natural resources, sustainable management of ecosystems, and the adoption of climate-smart agriculture. This is a vital component of developing a green economy," stated Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

The significance of bio/organic and agroecological agriculture in improving the agri-food industry and making it a more equitable, economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable system was explored at the international conference.

 

Local and international experts, and representatives of farming associations, shared their experiences with the audience.
Parallel to the conference, an exhibition, and sale of local, organic, and eco-friendly products was organized.

 

Representatives of governmental, international, civil, and scientific organizations, organic and agroecological farms, companies involved in bio-production, and other stakeholders attended the conference.
