Nino Tandilashvili attended the ENPARD Steering Committee Meeting

 

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, attended the 31st Steering Committee Meeting of the European Union Program - "European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development" (ENPARD). 


The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union for its support and partnership.

      

 

"We appreciate that the EU recognized the European perspective of Georgia, and we hope our country will be granted candidate status very soon. European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development plays an important role in Georgia's agricultural and rural development. Our strides in agricultural and environmental protection areas are apparent and notable. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture continuous to carry out reforms. The support of international partners is particularly important for us and we hope that the progress achieved by Georgia will be properly evaluated", stated Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili.


According to Mrs. Catalin Gherman, Acting Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Georgia, progress in agriculture is noticeable in many directions.


 

"At today's meeting, we discussed several important issues. Progress can be seen in all directions; however, this time, we would emphasize the institutional improvement of agencies included in the agricultural system and the progress in implementing strategies to improve the laboratory system", said Mrs. Catalin Gherman.
The discussion touched upon the ENPARD IV phase budget support in 2021-2023; Presentations included the institutional reform of the Rural Development Agency (2021-2023), the progress report of the updated action plans, and the laboratory strategy project.

 

 

The parties discussed activities planned for women’s empowerment, events planned in cooperation with the House of Justice to improve services in villages (including vulnerable groups), and the food control system evaluation.
Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Heads of the relevant agencies included in the system of the Ministry, representatives of the European Union, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) attended the meeting.
