The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze meets wheat farmers.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, accompanied by Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, State Representative of Kakheti region, Mayors of Lagodekhi, Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi municipalities, and representatives of self-government met with local wheat farmers in Sighnaghi municipality.

More than 60 wheat farmers from the Kakheti region attended the meeting. According to farmers, last year's produce is selling slowly.
Under the government's decision, an additional temporary fee was imposed on imported flour; however, prior to this decision, the flour supplies were still substantial in the country.

As mentioned, due to lower stockpiles, demand for local flour would grow in two weeks, and mills will purchase flour from local farmers at a reasonable market price.
"Recently, intensive meetings were held between the relevant services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and field representatives."

"Our goal was to reach a decision in consultation with all parties, by which, on the one hand, we would maintain the price of bread and, on the other hand, the farmers would be able to sell their crops without any hindrance," said Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze.

It should be mentioned that the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is still assisting wheat farmers in harvesting their new crops. The Ministry has established a coordination group.

The state and private sectors have mobilized around 300 units of harvesting equipment. The wheat harvest is progressing well.
