About 20 mill companies receive wheat from wheat farmers.

Delivering wheat to mill companies is in full swing and proceeding smoothly. Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, get familiar with the wheat receiving process at the "Geomil" LLC company.

 

 

"The temporary customs duty imposed by the government of Georgia on the imported wheat flour resulted in creating necessary conditions for bringing local mill companies into operation and avoiding problems with the sale /storage of wheat. We can say that the mentioned process is already in full swing and will become even more intense in a few weeks. About twenty thousand tonnes of wheat have already been delivered to the company.
Wheat harvesting is nearing completion in Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi municipalities. We are not expecting any delays. The equipment is fully mobilized, and the harvesting process is currently underway," said Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze.

 

"Geomill" LLC receives wheat from Dedoplistskaro, Sighnaghi, Marneuli, Gardabani, and Bolnisi municipalities. According to the head of the company,  Besik Bezhashvili, the company receives about 250-300 tonnes of Georgian wheat during the day. 
Since the Government of Georgia imposed a temporary customs duty on the import of wheat flour, we have delivered around 5,500 tonnes of wheat and received approximately 2000 tonnes of wheat for storage. The procedure is proceeding smoothly.

 

We receive about 250-300 tonnes of wheat daily. We are referring to wheat that meets the standards. Quality wheat has no delivery problems ", said Besik Bezhashvili.
To support wheat farmers, the Government of Georgia has imposed a temporary customs duty on the import of wheat flour for five months. The decision entered into force on June 10.

 

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze inspected the laboratory equipped with modern standards in the "Geomill" company. Grain quality is tested in an accredited laboratory to ensure compliance with the standards established in Georgia.
