The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze attended the presentation of environmental measures carried out by RMG.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, attended the meeting of the "Working Group Studying Environmental Pollution in the Kvemo Kartli Region" operating under the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. 
During the meeting, the representatives of RMG delivered a presentation on the activities carried out within the framework of the environmental program and provided information about future environmental protection projects.
As of 2023, the company RMG has fulfilled all requirements imposed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in 2017-2018.

 

" The Ministry is actively cooperating with all parties on the mentioned issue, thus, we have certain results. I would thank the relevant agencies included in the system of the Ministry, the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament, the "Sakhdrisi Committee", the local government, and the company representatives for their fruitful cooperation. Such cooperation should further continue so that the company's activities will cause minimal damage to the environment," Mr. Kakha Kakabadze noted.

According to the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Mrs. Maia Bitadze, the progress in RMG activities in the Kvemo Kartli region is visible. Hopefully, in the future, all companies will see the importance of making upfront expenditures for less damaging the environment.
According to Mr. Gogi Meshveliani, Majority MP of Bolnisi, many things in the region have improved as a result of environmental reform.

 

The list of environmental measures imposed by the Ministry included activities for ensuring the protection of water, soil, and air. The company’s activities exceeded GEL 37 million including collection-management of water generated in the enterprise, arrangement-operation of water purification plants, recultivation/reclamation works, and measures for reducing the pollution of dust and emissions of harmful substances.

 

It is planned to add water sprinkler systems and dust collection devices to the mining areas, expand the nurseries and carry out additional afforestation measures shortly.

 

The Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, Mr.  Levan Jgharkawa, the Deputy Head of the Department, the chief state inspector, Mrs.  Neli Korkotadze, and the Deputy Head of the National Environmental Agency, Mrs.  Maia Beradze, attended the meeting in the parliament.

 

 As stated by Mrs. Neli Korkotadze, Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental Supervision, It is appreciated that the company has fulfilled its obligations; however, during the implementation of the environmental damage elimination plan or new projects, the department will actively monitor the company's activities and, in case of violations, will respond accordingly.

 

According to Mrs. Nino Burchuladze, the representative of "The Sakdrisi Committee for Cultural Heritage" organization, in parallel to progress, the organization will further continue monitoring the company's activities.
