Otar Shamugia: "We decided to subsidize Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes by 20 tetri."

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, was held in the Government administration to discuss the 2023 grape vintage.

Under the decision of the Government of Georgia, the grapes of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane varieties will be subsidized in 2023 as well.

"The Prime Minister chaired the meeting to discuss the 2023 grape harvest-related issues. It is essential to organize a grape harvest so that each grower can deliver the grapes smoothly and, at the same time, receive a proper income. Meanwhile, we work to ensure our entrepreneurs' access to global markets.

We are carrying out an active campaign to promote Georgian wine in priority markets, which has recently resulted in a significant increase in export figures. Last year we had an export growth of up to 30%, and we maintain this dynamic this year.

We have an increase in the export figures of alcoholic beverages as well. Considering this, we decided to subsidize Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes by 20 Tetris this year. As you know, in previous years, the subsidy was 35 tetri.

During the harvest, all those enterprises that will receive grapes of the mentioned varieties from the growers for at least 90 tetri will receive a subsidy of 20 tetri. The corresponding decree will be prepared in the next few days and submitted to the Government", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
