With the financial support of the " Integrated Development Program for the Pilot Regions," a cold storage facility was organized in Kutaisi.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  Tengiz Nasaridze, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mrs.  Mzia Giorgobian, and the State Representative  of Imereti Region, Mr.  Zviad Shalamberidze inspected the cold storage facility created by by "Vatagi" company with the financial support of the EU " Integrated Development Program for the Pilot Regions."

 

 

 " 48 enterprises were financed in 4 pilot regions nationwide, including new and reequipped enterprises. The state investment reaches 20 million GEL. The EU-Georgia "Integrated Development Program of Pilot Regions" and other similar programs contribute significantly to regional economic growth, job creation, and boosting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises. "The Integrated Development Program of Pilot Regions" will contribute to the economic growth rate of the target regions," said Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

 

 

"Vatagi" company invested 3 million GEL to construct a cold storage facility and equip it with modern standards. Furthermore, 
the loan received within the "Pilot Regions Integrated Development Program" amounts to 640,000 GEL; Within the framework of the program, the financing of the Rural Development Agency amounts to 384,000 GEL. The cold storage facility can store 250 tons of dairy products. The company employs 60 locals. The products are intended for sale in the local market.

 

 

 "We had the opportunity to see how one of the private businesses that benefited from the EU -Georgia "Program of Integrated Development of Pilot Regions" operates. It should be mentioned that 400 businesses were financed within this program, and what is crucial is it was an integrated approach, which meant not only the support of private businesses but also the arrangement of road infrastructure", said the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mr.  Mzia Giorgobiani.

 

 

The EU-Georgia "Pilot Regions Integrated Development Program" is managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and implemented by the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in four pilot regions of Georgia - Imereti, Kakheti, Guria and Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti. The third component of the program aims to promote small and medium-sized businesses, which means the creation of new enterprises and the expansion or reequipping of existing enterprises.
