The Coordination Headquarter for Grape Harvest 2023 opens in Telavi Municipality.

"Today, we opened a grape harvest coordination headquarters to organize the harvest process. All preconditions are created for conducting a successful harvest. It should be emphasized that the support provided by the state to winegrowers and winemakers in recent years is unprecedented. We help farmers with the subsidy and insurance co-financing, which has been increased from 50% to 70% this year. I address the winegrowers to be more active in this area.
Support for the sector is also shown through targeted agro-credit and marketing programs. The state spends approximately GEL 15 million to promote the Georgian wine on international priority markets. We help entrepreneurs to co-finance marketing costs. As a result, Georgian wine exports are annually increasing. Only in 2022, 103 million liters of wine were exported, a record number," the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture noted.
The Deputy Minister, Mr. Yuri Nozadze, State Representative in the Kakheti Region, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, Regional Majoritarian MPs Mr. Gela Samkharauli and Mr. Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, representatives of local authorities and wine-producing companies attended the opening of the headquarter along with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture,

Under the government's decision, within the 2023 harvest, the state will subsidize the Rkatsiteli and Kakhetsian Mzvani varieties of grapes this year.

The mentioned decision will motivate up to 25 thousand winegrowers and 500 wine producers to continue their activities, providing the opportunity to develop.
All companies that receive and process over 100 tonnes of Rkatsiteli and Kakhetsian green grapes grown in the Kakheti region will receive a state subsidy of 90 tetri. In addition, the support for companies amounts to 20 tetri per kg of Rkatsiteli and 1 kilogram of Kakhetsian Mtsvane varieties of grapes if purchasing grapes grown by wine growers in the Kakheti region.
The Minister emphasized that the state enterprise is ready to receive the grapes damaged by climatic conditions from the growers, for which there will be no demand from the private sector, and to pay the farmers 90 tetri per kilogram.

At the opening of the coordination headquarters for Grape Harvest 2023, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Mr. Levan Mekhuzla, spoke about the grape harvest-related organizational issues.
This year, the harvest forecast for grapes makes up around 200 thousand tonnes. This year, about 500 wineries will be involved in the harvesting process. The ripe grapes will be delivered to the companies based on the extract from the viticulture cadaster issued by the National Wine Agency.

From August 24, the harvest headquarters will work 24 hours a day in Telavi, organizing the harvest, including accounting and traceability of grapes.
The grapes will be registered in a single electronic system. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture introduced the system in 2013, and has been functioning effectively since then.
