The National Forestry Agency has fully renovated the special-purpose vehicle fleet.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  Otar Shamugia, accompanied by Mr.  David Nozadze, State Representative in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, inspected the new special-purpose equipment.

"We are currently in the process of fully equipping our services. The National Forestry Agency has received new special-purpose equipment and off-road vehicles, which were funded by a total of GEL 8 million. Some of the funding came from the state budget, while our partner donor organizations provided the rest.

This technique is significant for the forestry agency for more effectively performing its activities and to carry out the construction of relevant forest roads so that in case of fire or other need, the proper services can be mobilized promptly. The process of equipping with new equipment will continue in the future", - said Mr Otar Shamugia.

Thirty-seven high-performance off-road pickup trucks and 22 units of special-purpose equipment will be distributed to 9 regional forestry services.
The agency will use specialized equipment to effectively carry out forestry and agricultural measures such as forest maintenance and restoration, timber production, arrangement and rehabilitation of forest roads, and monitoring of state forest territories.

It should be mentioned that the National Forestry Agency's top priorities include:
improving the sanitary condition of forests, forest inventory,
preparing management plans and multi-purpose forest usage,
social guarantees for coworkers and improving working conditions.
In recent years, the scale of forest maintenance and restoration efforts has increased significantly, including developing forestry infrastructure, creating log sort yards and constructing forest roads.

The rehabilitation of forestry service offices has been completed in almost all regions, and new forestry service offices have been built in the Racha-Lechkhumi,  Kvemo Svaneti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions, allowing the local population to make better use of the Forestry Agency's services.
