The representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reviewed new assistance measures to promote the development of the livestock sector.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Otar Shamugia, briefed the representatives of the livestock sector - large, medium and small-scale producers, on the goals of new state support measures aiming at the development of milk and meat production in Georgia.

 

"The state is actively working to promote the livestock sector. We have supporting initiatives, but we need additional measures to make significant progress in increasing milk and meat production and developing the livestock industry in general. Therefore, an incentive plan aimed at promoting production growth is being prepared through active communication with industry representatives. I would emphasize that a lot depends on the activity of the sector. We are ready to receive the recommendations, comments and offers of the stakeholders", Mr Otar Shamugia said.

 

The scheme of support measures for the development of cattle breeding is being developed at the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, with the participation of the private sector and donor organizations.
The Ministry aims to promote the development of cattle breeding farms in three directions: construction/reconstruction/equipment of dairy, meat, and combined breeding farms; Setting up livestock manure storage and promotion of small farms.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the goals and expected results of the activities. Following discussion and evaluation, the private sector's comments, recommendations and opinions will be reflected in the program.

Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and representatives of relevant agencies included in the Ministry's system attended the meeting.
