The winners of the "Beat Plastic Pollution" competition were awarded.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, participated in the competition "Beat Plastic Pollution" award ceremony organized by CENN.

 

 "In parallel with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture policy, it is essential to involve non-governmental organizations and the private sector in events that raise public awareness of waste management.

 

The EU Association Agreement, sustainable development goals, and international strategies that Georgia joins all call for developing a green economy. The "Stop Plastic Pollution" contest draws public attention to the need to minimize pollution so that less waste ends up in landfills and more is recycled. The event also encourages companies to the growth of the green economy." said Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

The competition aimed at promoting the involvement of various sectors in waste management issues and raising awareness of consumer approaches. Participants developed sustainability strategies, green procurement documents, and behavior change-oriented practices to reduce single-use plastics.

 Representatives of the private sector, civil society, Norwegian and US embassies, as well as the Georgian Farmers' Association, Sheraton Grand Metechi Palace Hotel, Silk Hospitality, Sachkhere Youth Center, National Democratic Institute (NDI), Polt Georgia, Peace Corps of Georgia, APM Terminals Poti participated in the competition .
