Nino Tandilashvili meets with the representatives of the Czech Development Cooperation and the Czech Ministry of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, addressed the expansion of protected areas, forest inventory, sustainable forest management, and arrangement of business yards.
The conversation touched upon the ongoing joint project " Implementation of Sustainable Forestry Management for the Aragvi Protected Landscape ".

The First Deputy Minister thanked the Czech partners for their support.

"Long and fruitful cooperation with the Czech side binds us in different directions. I would focus on the management of protected areas and forest management. We have made significant progress, specifically, we have adopted the New Forest Code through active collaboration with the Parliament of Georgia. Meanwhile, we are expanding the network of protected areas, since it is a priority for the Government to have as many protected areas as possible in the country.

In addition, the involvement of local municipalities in the processes of managing protected areas and forests, as well as strengthening their capacities, plays an important role since they are more aware of the local needs.
In this respect, we have excellent examples, such as enhancing the capacity of local municipalities with the support of our Czech colleagues.
Sharing the best international practices is crucial for us, and we are delighted to cooperate with EU member states that have already taken this path", said Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili.

The Representatives of the Czech Development Cooperation and the Czech Ministry of Agriculture emphasized the progress of the project "Implementation of Sustainable Forestry Management for the Aragvi Protected Landscape " and highlighted future steps planned within the project.

The project " Implementation of Sustainable Forestry Management for the Aragvi Protected Landscape" has been implemented since 2021. The initiative aims to address the needs of the forest-dependent local community by promoting sustainable forest management practices and ensuring ecological stability.

Representatives of relevant services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture attended the meeting.
