Otar Shamugia: "We will continue to subsidize Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grape varieties this year, followed by the decision of the Government of Georgia."

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, got acquainted with the ongoing harvesting process and the delivery of grapes in the Racha region. The Minister and the state representative of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti regions, Mr. Papuna Margvelidze, and Majoritarian MP Mr. Gocha Enukidze visited the grape processing company " Barakoni Winery".

The enterprise in the village of Bostana has already bought and processed 50 tonnes of grapes from local growers.

"The grape vintage is in full swing in the most beautiful corner of Racha. We will continue to subsidize Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grape varieties this year as well, followed by the decision of the Government of Georgia. The state will provide a GEL 4 subsidy to an entrepreneur who pays at least GEL 7. Last year, the mentioned support model was created, which was reasonable and effective. In fact, we did not need the state enterprise to be involved in delivering the grapes, since the private sector entirely took it; This year, the situation is the same - the private sector is active and taking grapes. The most important thing is that the winegrowers get a good income", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

According to Mr. Papuna Margvelidze, the harvest process is organized this year; About 20 enterprises are involved in the harvesting process. Currently, 1100 tonnes of grapes have already been delivered and processed.

As mentioned by Kakha Gordeziani, the owner of the " Barakoni Winery" enterprise, this year's harvest in Racha is not abundant. However, the quality is better compared to last year. State subsidizing is a crucial decision for the locals.
