The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, participates in the family harvest of Davit Tsimakuridze in the village of Saketsia.

The grape grower, Davit Tsimakuridze has planted grapes of Mujuretuli, Alexandrouli, Tsolikauri, and Tsitska varieties on an area of 15 ha, in the village of Saketia, in the Racha region.

Mr. Papuna Margvelidze, State Representative of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, and Majoritarian MP Mr.  Gocha Enukidze accompanied the Minister.

"It is essential that wine growers receive a good income through the state subsidies. This year, we expect to receive a harvest of more than 1500 tonnes in the Racha region. We aim to support the development of the winery industry and the vineyard planting process. Furthermore,  we have a new program for the highland regions in which we support entrepreneurial activities, including the financing for setting up the wineries and creating new companies, thus enabling winegrowers to press and store wine and sell it at a greater profit. Many people have applied to participate in the new program. We shall continue this process to boost the development of the sector." said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Minister also visited Davit Tsimakuridze's wine cellar "Saketsia Winery",  built by the wine grower under the project ''Co-financing of Processing and Storage Enterprises’’ of the Rural Development Agency.

"Saketsia Winery" LLC can process 15 thousand tonnes of grapes annually. Wine will be pressed in the winery for the first time this year.

Mr.  Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture accompanied the Minister.
