Yuri Nozadze meets the representatives of ICARDA to discuss scientific-research cooperation in the agricultural field.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Yuri Nozadze, and the Director of the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture, Mr. Levan Ujmajuridze, met with the representatives of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas  (ICARDA).

 

During the meeting, the parties addressed priority issues in the agricultural scientific research field and emphasized the development of joint projects. As stated, ICARDA is ready to cooperate on several exciting initiatives with Georgian partners.

Since 1975, ICARDA has implemented research-for-development programs in 50 countries across the world's dry areas. The center unites research institutes and scientific centers of the Caucasus, Small, Eastern, and Central Asia, which exchange materials and study plans.

 

According to the Regional Manager for Central Asia and the Caucasus of ICARDA, Mr. Akmal Akramkhanov, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas needed to learn more about the priorities of the Georgian government regarding agricultural development.

 

Mr. Nodar Khatiashvili, the Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture, Mr. Rustam Ibragimov, the Deputy Regional Manager of ICARDA, and the Head of the International Potato Center in Georgia, Vakhtang Mkhvidobadze attended the meeting.
