Otar Shamugia: "I am confident in the success of the "Georgia Resilient Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Project" (GRAIL)."

During the meeting with Dr. Ranu Sinha, (GRAIL) Project Manager and Irrigation and Drainage Specialist at World Bank Group, and Mr. Winston Yu, Water Practice Manager for the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank,  the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  Otar Shamugia discussed the technical and tariff setting methodology issues of the "Georgia Resilient Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Project" (GRAIL).

The parties focused on the (GRAIL) project completion phase. As mentioned, the project's outcomes exceeded expectations due to farmers' active involvement in the work process.

Minister Shamugia thanked the World Bank for its support over the years.

"We are launching a significant, large-scale project for Georgia's agricultural sector in collaboration with the World Bank. At the project implementation stage, a team of skilled employees is required, which will effectively manage the processes. It will be crucial for us to involve representatives of the World Bank and receive recommendations from them. Over the years, we have had fruitful and exemplary cooperation with the World Bank, which gives me a reason to be optimistic about the success of the (GRAIL) Project." Mr. Otar Shamugia stated.


Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, and representatives of relevant services within the Ministry system attended the meeting.
