The National Academy of Sciences of Georgia gets familiar with the main results of the "Circular Economy Mapping in Georgia".

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, provided the members of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia with the main results of the "Circular Economy Mapping in Georgia".

"With the support of the Swedish government, the document "Circularity Mapping for Georgia" was developed, presenting the priority sectors of the economy where there are more opportunities for recycling waste.
The document defines the key stages for assessing the circularity level of Georgia's economy, the possibilities of developing the circular economy for each target sector, and the main findings and recommendations of the sectorial analysis.

It is essential to mention that the development of the circular economy benefits the economy, society, and the environment and is linked to sustainable development goals and the green economy," said Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

During the meeting, a UN Circular Economy Advisory Committee member and International Consultant on Circular Economy Issues, Dr. Dariusz Edward Prasek, spoke about developing the national roadmap and strategy for Georgia's transition to a circular economy.

A national roadmap for Georgia's transition to a circular economy will be developed by the expert team of the Union of Nature Researchers of Georgia "Orchis," in coordination with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, in close cooperation with the Inter-agency Coordination Council created to promote the transition of Georgia to the circular economy system.
