Tengiz Nasaridze: "Supporting people living near the dividing line is especially important".

Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, attended the event in the Shida Kartli region, where the Project ‘’ USAID Resilient Communities Program" activity report was presented.

The event also included the presentation of the grant fund projects intended for the Shida Kartli region.
Mr.Tengiz Nasaridze expressed his gratitude to the USAID for its support.

The Project ‘’ USAID Resilient Communities Program" helps the population living in the villages near the occupied territories in various directions. Supporting individuals living near the dividing line is extremely important to us since, despite numerous challenges, they continue to thrive and generate income to build wealth in these villages. It is also crucial to involve local municipalities in this regard. Rural development is one of the top priorities for the Georgian government. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture promotes rural development through various programs. Additional favorable conditions are provided for the population engaged in agricultural activities in the villages near the dividing line", said Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze.

The Deputy Minister also spoke about the increased indicators of production and export of agricultural products in the country.

According to Mrs. Erin Elizabeth McKee, the Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at USAID, the program helps countries strengthen their partnership relations.

"The United States of America and Georgia have been cooperating for more than 30 years, we are promoting the creation of a strong democracy and economy in Georgia. We support the country's sovereignty and territorial unity, which brings the country even closer to Europe.
We will continue our partnership with Georgia, to support the people of Georgia, improve their conditions, and create more opportunities. This program is important especially because 20% of the country's territory is occupied, and we are helping those citizens who have personally suffered from the illegal occupation from Russia," said Mrs. Erin Elizabeth Mackee.

The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mrs. Mzia Giorgobiani, as well as Mayors of the target municipalities of the program, and representatives of the private and civil sectors, attended the event of the ‘’ USAID Resilient Communities Program".

The implementation of ‘’USAID Resilient Communities Program" started in July 2022, aiming to strengthen the communities near the administrative dividing line and enable them to cope with the existing challenges.
