The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, together with the involved parties, addressed the progress of the 4th phase of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD), implemented projects and future plans.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the need for the adoption of an improved rural management system, the improvement of infrastructure and access to rural services, the empowerment of women living in rural areas, the promotion of agricultural development, and the implementation of the 2024-2027 Agricultural Development Action Plan.

The conversation also touched upon the sustainable use of forest resources, strengthening environmental protection, and combating climate change-related challenges.

"As part of the program, ‘’a sound normative ground’’ is being created for agricultural development. Work on various important documents is launched. We have concrete results and an action plan tailored to the reality of Georgia and the needs of our population. We have the desire and ambition to become part of the European family. We are actively working with the support of the World Bank and other donor organizations to implement rural development programs. With joint efforts, we will be able to further enhance agriculture and make economic progress.", said Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze.

The representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the EU Representation in Georgia, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Estonian Trade Development Agency attended the meeting.

It should be mentioned that the fourth phase of ENPARD will run from 2021 to 2025, with the main objective of developing and implementing a rural development policy and increasing access to the European market for farmers and entrepreneurs.
