The development of the plant protection industry was reviewed at the Steering Committee Board meeting.

The Steering Committee Board was created with the support of USDA.  The Board unites the relevant services and Agencies included in the system of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture - the National Food Agency, the State Laboratory of Agriculture, the Scientific Research Center, including the Customs Service of the Revenue Service, the scientific and private sectors, and non-governmental organizations.

During the 7th Steering Committee Board meeting, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, emphasized the importance of plant protection systems in agriculture and the necessity for field development.

The parties addressed the measures implemented in the plant protection area, plans for the future, the phytosanitary activities of the National Food Agency, the challenges and planned novelties of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, and the updated rules and regulations subject to phytosanitary control at customs points.

The Heads of the working groups presented reports on the activities and regulations developed and planned in the field of plant protection within the framework of the DCFTA.
