Otar Shamugia: " Studies are underway to create a type of protected area in Racha that is best suited to the needs of the local community while also protecting its the unique nature."

At the end of the government session, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, briefed the media representatives on the license for setting up a hunting farm in Racha and explained why the issue of declaring the license invalid was on the agenda.

"In May 2023, we announced that the company  ‘’HG Capra Caucasica’’
had a year to submit a management plan and information on other studies. The Department of Environmental Supervision responded, announcing that the company did not submit the management plan, and accordingly, the Department of Supervision drew up a protocol. Since then, the Agency, the Ministry, and I-myself have issued many statements.

Concerning these processes, we started working to create protected areas in this area, and studies are underway with the direct involvement of the local government, local community, relevant specialists, and experts to develop a type of protected area in Racha that is best suited to the needs and requirements of the local community while also protecting the unique nature." said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
