"The development of the agricultural sector is a priority for our Government; Therefore, we annually enhance support programs for our farmers. Along with agricultural development, it is crucial to increase young people's interest in agricultural careers. Moreover, the Agricultural Olympiad is a platform that helps to increase the capabilities of students, pupils, specialists, and farmers and encourage even more young people to be interested in the agricultural field", said the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili.

The Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, Mr. Mamuka Meskhi, noted that the National Agricultural Olympiad is essential in developing and promoting the agricultural education sector.

We are delighted that FAO is an active supporter of the mentioned process and we intend to be actively involved in the Olympics and popularize knowledge and professions in the agricultural sector, which is crucial for agricultural development," said the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, Mr. Mamuka Meskhi.

Many young people participate in the Olympics; It is important to interest them in the agricultural sector for further development of this sector", said Mr. Alexander Karner, Head of the Technical Cooperation Coordination Office of the Austrian Embassy.

870 contestants participated in the Agro Olympiad 2023. Two-stage testing in four categories (specialist, student, farmer, student) and six competition directions (agronomy, veterinary-livestock, viticulture-winemaking, food technology, mechanization, forestry) revealed 39 winners.
