Otar Shamugia meets the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev in Dubai.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Otar Shamugia, and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mukhtar Babaev, discussed issues of deepening future cooperation during the official meeting, which was held in the United Arab Emirates - Dubai, within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28).

 

As we know, the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, will host the Conference (COP 29) next year.
Minister  Shamugia confirmed his full support to his Azerbaijani counterpart and promised to ensure the significant event for the region will be held at a high level. The parties decided to establish a Georgia-Azerbaijan joint working group to collaborate on the main initiatives of COP 29.

 

During the meeting, Minister Babaev emphasized the role of Georgia in the process of peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
" The signing of the peace agreement is crucial for the entire world. Georgia has a great role in normalizing relations, which we appreciate very much," said Mr. Mukhtar Babaev.

 

According to Mr. Shamugia, the relations between the top leaders of the countries play a critical role in representing the region in the international arena, noting that thanks to their efforts, the relations between our countries are deep and positive in various directions.

 

"There is no alternative to peace, and I am delighted that it will be strengthened throughout the region", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, noted that Azerbaijan has a long history of relations and cooperation with its partner country - Georgia.

 

"We have had a very fruitful discussion today with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia about future cooperation in the context of the 28th and 29th Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held next year in Baku, Azerbaijan. We believe in having numerous opportunities to do more and prepare new concepts, even at the regional level. For all of us, the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) will be an excellent opportunity to show the world how our regions, Azerbaijan and Georgia are progressing towards a greener future. To transition to green technology, green agriculture, and the implementation of all the green concepts existing in the world today", said Mr. Babaev.

The United Nations Conference of the Parties to Climate Change (COP28) is a multilateral decision-making platform on climate change issues, embracing almost all countries worldwide. More than 100,000 delegates participated in the ongoing Conference in Dubai. The Conference hosted various events, including the Leaders' Summit, Ministerial meetings, bilateral meetings, and negotiations.
