Otar Shamugia participated in the High-Level Conference of Ministers in Dubai.
Within the framework of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28), the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, participated in the High-level Conference of the Ministers of Environmental Protection in the United Arab Emirates – Dubai. Ministers of Moldova, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Canada, Estonia, Finland, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, and other high-ranking officials attended the meeting -held at the invitation of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Mr. Ruslan Strilets.

According to Mr. Shamugia, the event brings together countries with shared commitments to addressing environmental and climate change challenges.

"We all know very well that only through joint efforts we can make a significant change in the current situation and reduce the negative impact on the environment. Georgia is waiting for the EU candidate status. We will continue to implement the ambitious plans related to the European integration process and moving towards full membership of the European family", said Minister Shamugia.
During the meeting, Ukraine submitted the draft environmental declaration.

"The declaration emphasizes fairly that environmental damage caused by war undermines global efforts to combat climate change and reduce toxic substance emissions." ," said Otar Shamugia.
It should be mentioned that the United Nations Conference of the Parties to Climate Change (COP28) is a multilateral decision-making platform on climate change issues, embracing almost all countries worldwide. More than 100,000 delegates participated in the ongoing Conference in Dubai. The Conference hosted various events, including the Leaders' Summit, Ministerial meetings, bilateral meetings, and negotiations.Â
