In his remarks, Mr. Shamugia spoke about the results achieved in the agricultural field in the last ten years.
According to the Minister, the growing trend of production and export in the agricultural sector is maintained annually as a result of the state agricultural policy. The state continues to assist farmers and, based on their needs, makes improvements to existing initiatives and plans new ones.

"Georgian Agriculture Sector: Transformation and Last Decade’s Development Trends " is an important document that discusses the changes made in rural development. Since 2012, agricultural development has been one of the top priorities for the Government. During these ten years, appropriate budgetary resources were mobilized for developing the sector. Since 2012-13, we have launched significant programs to support farmers.

Today, up to 15 such programs are being implemented in the country. The publication thoroughly discusses the outcomes of these programs and legislative amendments adopted during this period.

We should emphasize the reforms made towards integration with the European Union and legislative convergence, where we have made serious progress, and obviously, this process and progress will continue," said Minister Shamugia.

Development trends in the agricultural sector over the last ten years have been summarized and analyzed in the publication developed at the initiative of the  Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. The mentioned publication reviews legal, economic, and institutional processes implemented in 2012-2022, the results achieved in the agrarian sector, and the existing challenges.

The representatives of the legislative, governmental structures, relevant non-governmental organizations, associations, and scientific circles attended the event.
