The Second Plenary Session - dedicated to the National Roadmap for Georgia's Transition to a Circular Economy.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, attended the second plenary meeting dedicated to the National Roadmap for Georgia's Transition to a Circular Economy.

" We frequently speak about the green economy, with a particular emphasis on the circular economy as an integral part of the green economy. This is a new platform and the right way to contribute to the fulfillment of sustainable development goals, which enables us to use the waste in the second cycle as raw material and create new, added value and new jobs. The country developed the so-called ''Mapping'' for circular economy. Georgia is committed to adopting a green economy. The following stage is the creation of a roadmap to outline the strategy and a set of measures", said Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

The interagency coordination council established by the Government of Georgia to promote the transition to the circular economy and the expert team of the Georgian Society of Natural Explorers “Orchis"- responsible for elaborating the roadmap, participated in the plenary session.

The plenary session also included a round table discussion with experts and members of the inter-agency coordination council to discuss the main recommendations of the 2022 report on the assessment of the circularity level and determine the work directions for the development of the circularity roadmap.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Georgian Society of Natural Explorers “Orchis" organized the plenary session as part of the "Governance Reform Fund" (GRF) project of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) sub-project "Supporting the Government of Georgia in Enhancing Governance & Policies for a Transition to a Circular Economy", which is financed by the Government of Sweden. Georgian Society of Natural Explorers “Orchis" implements the mentioned sub-project, which is coordinated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
