Otar Shamugia attended the Annual Activity Report 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, together with the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, attended the presentation of the annual activity report 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara in Batumi.Â

During the event, Mr. Zaza Shavadze, Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, submitted the report, summarized the activities taken in 2023, and emphasized the agency's plans for 2024.

The Chairman of the Government of Adjara positively evaluated the activity of the Ministry of Agriculture, stating that next year, the Ministry of Adjara will have an increased budget to better assist local farmers.
In his remarks, Mr. Otar Shamugia focused on the projects jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the government of Adjara.

"We are implementing about 15 projects to help farmers and entrepreneurs in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara. These initiatives encompass the entire value chain. Moreover, as a result of the mentioned projects, agricultural production in the country has expanded by 112 percent during the previous 10 years, while exports have increased by about 150 percent.

This year will have record numbers in these areas. The Prime Minister summarised the activities of the previous year a few days ago. We believe everyone is pleased that the country has achieved tangible progress. All regions of the country contribute to this progress. Adjara has an incredibly high potential, with numerous paths that are progressively being exploited to produce wealth and improve the population's well-being ", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Minister also addressed environmental protection issues, emphasizing the current reform in the forestry sector which has been implemented since the adoption of the forestry code.Â

Mr. Otar Shamugia also addressed the challenges in the backdrop of climate change, noting that coordinated efforts on climate change are actively underway both globally and in Georgia to achieve meaningful, concrete, and tangible results.
During the event, Minister Shamugia and Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Mr. Tornike Rizhvadze congratulated the attendees on the EU candidate status and thanked everyone who contributed to the decision.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Mr. Davit Gabaidze, Members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Adjara, Mayors of the municipality, Deputies of the Supreme Council, entrepreneurs, and other officials attended the event, which ended with an award ceremony. Mr. Shamugia awarded the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and sub-departmental institutions for their contribution to the field.Â
