Noe Megrelishvili was elected as the Co-Chair of the Bureau of Executive Body for Air Convention for a second term.

Geneva, Switzerland hosted the 43rd session of the Executive Body to the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution, where Mr. Noe Megrelishvili,  Head of Ambient Air Division, Department of Environment and Climate Change of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia was elected as the Co-Chair of the Bureau for the second term.

 

Mr. Noe Megrelishvili was appointed to this position for the first time in 2021 for a two-year term.

 

 The Air Convention unites the USA, Canada, Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Within the framework of the convention, advanced scientific and political activities are being taken at the international level to protect the atmospheric air.

 

It is worth mentioning that Georgia is one of the leading countries in air pollution control efforts in the Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia regions.
Several significant measures have been implemented in recent years to improve air quality, including introducing the Euro 5 emissions standard for cars,  controlling vehicle exhaust emissions on the roads, improving the vehicle technical inspection system, reducing industrial emissions, improving public transportation,  promoting walking and cycling, and so on.
