Otar Shamugia: "We actively worked with the representatives of the sector to create an additional support mechanism for livestock development".

At the end of the government session, Mr. Otar Shamugia spoke with media representatives about additional state support mechanisms for livestock development.

" We fund particular actions towards cattle breeding through preferential agro-credit. It is crucial to continue further growth and development of milk and meat production.

Therefore,  we have made changes to the preferential agro credit project. Three new sub-components will be launched in this direction, including financing highly productive dairy and meat farms, setting up stalls for fattening beef cattle, and funding small cattle farms.

The difference I would point out between the existing components and the new one is that in the first component, instead of four years, we will continue co-financing for seven years. The interest rate is within 11% today and will be the same with the new component. As for small farms, we will provide grant funding within GEL 40,000 to organize appropriate farms and stalls with modern standards", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

According to the Minister, a significant change made within this project is that each initiative will be reviewed by the relevant services of the Ministry.
Food safety must be ensured, and all projects and farms must be developed and equipped with modern standards. Scientific Research Centre and the Rural Development Agency will review each project. Monitoring will be carried out at a later stage.
