Otar Shamugia: "An unprecedented amount of financial resources - more than USD 300 million - has been attracted for irrigation and drainage infrastructure".
"Irrigation and drainage infrastructure is intensively developing. The area provided with irrigation water increased from 45,000 to 163,000 hectares. An unprecedented amount of financial resources - more than USD 300 million has been mobilized from four large international financial institutions. Moreover, large-scale projects for the modernization of the irrigation systems will commence this year, providing significant improvements in reclamation services across an area of over 50,000 hectares. I would also point out that this year, we will have the preliminary feasibility study for constructing the Ilto reservoir in the Kakheti region.

The mentioned reservoir will allow us to improve water supply on more than 40 thousand hectares of land area in the Kakheti region, which will improve the socio-economic conditions of more than 50 thousand families employed in the agricultural sector", said the candidate for the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia at the joint session of the committees in the Parliament.
