Otar Shamugia: "We actively continue to work on fulfilling the obligations stipulated by the Association Agreement and the recommendations of the European Commission".

‘’Last year was historic for Georgia - the country was awarded the candidate status. We actively continue to work on fulfilling the obligations stipulated by the Association Agreement and the recommendations of the European Commission. Institutional changes are underway to adopt the European management system in agriculture and rural development policy in Georgia. The draft law of Georgia on Agriculture and Rural Development was elaborated in collaboration with the Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, and its passage will be another significant step toward legislative convergence.

Georgia is successfully bringing its national legislation closer to the legal acts of the European Union in the veterinary, phytosanitary, and food safety fields. As of today, out of 200 legal acts of the European Union, the legislation is already approximated to 133 legal acts, and the process continues according to the plan" -stated the candidate for the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  Otar Shamugia, at the joint session of the Agrarian Issues, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy, Regional Policy and Self-Government and Finance-Budget Committees.
