People living in mountainous settlements will be able to purchase small agricultural equipment with state co-financing.

Under the decision of the Government of Georgia, the Rural Development Agency will implement a specific program "Co-financing program for agricultural machinery in mountainous settlements" to increase access to small-scale agricultural machinery for farmers living in mountainous settlements. The budget of the program is GEL 5 million.

The demand for hand tractors (monoblocks) is high since the population of highland settlements owns small land plots for farming. The new state program was created considering the needs of farmers.
A natural person who owns an agricultural land plot in the highland settlement and has the status of a permanent resident is eligible to apply for financing under the new program.

The program will provide 70% of the co-financing of the cost of small-sized agricultural machinery for people living in mountainous areas. The co-financing limit is different depending on the capacities of farming machinery and does not exceed GEL 2500.
Farmers will be able to purchase harvesting agricultural equipment in 2024 with state co-financing. This year, applications will be accepted in April.

The acreage of orchards ( into bearing fruits) increases annually due to the state agricultural projects, which raises the demand for harvesting equipment.
The state aims to make modern harvesting techniques available to more farmers and people involved in agribusiness to ensure high-quality and timely harvesting, following the agro-technological calendar. The harvesting process will become more productive and effective by adopting the global practice of using modern techniques in agricultural activities.

This year, the total budget of the co-financing program for harvesting agricultural machinery has increased. Last year, GEL 7 million was allocated. This year, we have allocated GEL 10 million.

The state's co-financing ratio was set at 30% of the total cost, with a cap of GEL 150,000, considering the high level of interest in the program. Co-financing for purchasing grape harvesting equipment is another option accessible under the program's new terms.

It should be mentioned that the state's top priority is to promote the development of modern standard agricultural production. Therefore, several programs are being implemented, some of which aim to increase farmers' access to new agricultural equipment with different capacities.
More than GEL 440 million have been spent nationwide on 7,500 units of agricultural implements and equipment in various capacities from 2013 until today. The co-financing of the Rural Development Agency exceeds GEL 122 million.
