Otar Shamugia: " It is important to support our farmers in financing the expenses necessary for the maintenance/ care and cultivation of annual crops".

"As in the previous year, we will allow farmers- who are cultivating annual crops to take loans for growing annual crops. We will finance an interest rate of 9% for a year. The maximum loan amount will be GEL 100,000. It is important to support our farmers in financing the expenses necessary for the maintenance/ care and cultivation of annual crops", the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, spoke with the media representatives after the government session.

 

 

We should mention that through the "Preferential Agrocredit" project, the Rural Development Agency will assist farmers in covering their current costs of growing annual crops - vegetables, cereals, and orchard crops at all stages of plant care and cultivation, including purchasing sowing and planting material, fertilizers and biological means of plant protection. The cost of hiring labor and agricultural machinery, fuel used, etc.

 

The Minister has made a statement about the support for hazelnut farmers. It is worth mentioning that all crop-growing expenses in hazelnut orchards larger than 3 hectares are funded within the subcomponent of the primary hazelnut production, with no more than GEL 3000 per hectare. The loan volume ranges from 5,000 to a maximum of GEL 300,000. The co-financing interest rate is 8%, and the co-financing period is 12 months.
