Eleven agricultural cooperatives in the Samegrelo region purchased agricultural equipment worth GEL 1.2 million with 50% co-financing.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, visited Abasha municipality, where he inspected the farm equipment and implements purchased within the framework of the State program ‘’Co-financing Agricultural Machinery for Agricultural Cooperatives".

 

" Agro-credit project enabled large-scale farmers to purchase agricultural equipment. Small-scale entrepreneurs expressed a need for a support program, and a program was created specifically for them. Farmers who unite and create a cooperative will receive 50 per cent co-financing for the purchase of equipment. The  farmers' activities are important and the state is ready to support them", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
Under the state program, the agricultural cooperatives "Epseri 2023," "Agro Gezati 2024," and "Sujuna 2024" were funded with GEL 197,664 to purchase tractors and implements worth GEL 395,327.

 

Within the mentioned program, in 2023-2024, 62 agricultural cooperatives in Georgia were financed to acquire 331 units of pulling farm machinery and implements worth GEL 7,275,591, with 50% of the cost amounting to GEL 3,631,281.

In 2023-2024, eleven agricultural cooperatives in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region got state co-financing at 50% of the cost (about GEL 640,000) to acquire 62 units of agricultural machinery (tractors and implements). Within the program, seven agricultural cooperatives in Abasha municipality were funded with GEL 423,273 to purchase 43 items of equipment (tractors and implements).

From 2016 to 2023, a total of 7,500 units of agricultural equipment and implements of various capacities, valued at more than GEL 440 million, were acquired nationwide, with the co-financing of the Rural Development Agency exceeding GEL 122 million.
