Otar Shamugia: "We implement more than 15 projects to support farmers".

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, along with State Representative Mr. Giorgi Dokhturishvili, visited the farm constructed through state support in the village, Didi Mughanlo, Marneuli municipality, where state officials met with local farmers.

"We continue to meet with the entrepreneurs and farmers in the regions to get information about their needs, make appropriate changes in the current 15 state support projects, and initiate new programs that will be more tailored to the interests of farmers.

The farm we visited is a good example of achieving success through government support, both in planting a garden and establishing a processing plant, which means that added value will be created on-site, enabling the farmer to carry out agricultural activities with more value and income, which is crucial. We have financed hundreds of farmers and continue to support them", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
In 2021, "Green House" LLC planted an almond garden on 11 ha in Didi Mughanlo village, Marneuli Municipality, as part of the "Plant the Future" program. Moreover, the state co-financing amounted to around GEL 75,000. The enterprise launched at the end of 2023 benefited from the "Preferential Agrocredit" project, with a loan of GEL 500,000.

The enterprise, which can process 100 tonnes of almonds annually, employs 11 locals. The company sells its products on the local market.
According to Koba Tabagar, the founder of the "Green House" company, state programs were an important support for developing their farming activities.

It should be mentioned that the planting of almonds on 4,628 hectares, including 1,632 hectares in the Kvemo Kartli region, is co-financed by the state program "Plant the Future" with GEL 9.1 million.

Within the framework of the "Preferential Agrocredit" project, 23 loans worth more than GEL 6.4 million were issued for almond processing, with the co-financing of the Rural Development Agency amounting to more than GEL 600,000, including the amount of preferential agrocredit issued in the Kvemo Kartli region exceeding GEL 4.3 million.
